Ground Penetrating Radar Scan To Locate Reinforcing Steel Within Concrete Slab
GPRS of Las Vegas was contacted by a large general contractor to locate the reinforcing steel in a concrete slab prior to core drilling. The driller was coring 6” into the concrete and GPRS was able to mark the location and depth of the reinforcing steel onto the surface of the concrete so that the core drilling could be performed without cutting through the shallower layer of reinforcing steel.
Unlike conventional X-Ray, GPR is not limited to a specific size of area at each location. Ground Penetrating Radar is a great tool to scan areas for post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
