Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. (GPRS) of Las Vegas, Nevada was contacted by a major general contractor to help locate underground utility lines such as gas, electric, power, water, and communication lines in a ground level slab for a major resort casino. This project’s need for utility locating was essential as there were over 120’ of proposed saw cut trenches to be made into the concrete slab. GPRS’ private underground utility locating was necessary as 811 or “Blue Stake” services will only locate on the public utility side of any meter. The contractor knew it was essential to recruit a private utility locator like GPRS, LLC. to locate all underground utilities to avoid damaging them during the improvement process.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS, LLC.) was able to locate the private underground utilities successfully before all saw cutting as well as multiple occurrences of “walker duct” or duct-banks. Previously unknown high-voltage electrical lines were detected and were not known to be present prior to GPRS’ investigation. Without GPRS’ thorough underground utility investigation process, these multiple, live power lines, would have been cut through, causing extreme danger.
